Ena and I went down to Seattle on Friday to visit my friend Mike from high school and his wife Christin. Except for the four and a half hour wait at the border, which more or less killed the first day of our two day trip, we had a great time.
It was interesting to catch up with Mike, who I hadn't had a chance to talk to in about ten years. We talked about the stuff we used to do when we were kids, like making prank phone calls to this Christian call-in radio program that used to air on Sunday nights in Kingston.
I suppose when you think of high school students getting into trouble making prank phone calls is relatively tame. Nonetheless Ena assures me that this revelation has, for her, tarnished my image as an upright guy who never does anything bad. She seems rather relieved about it.

Ready to go
All the preparations are completed, I will be heading to Kyushu on September 30th!
I realized that its been almost 2 months since I put anything on this blog. I anticipate I'll be putting a lot more once I actually get to Japan.
At the moment I can barely move because of the softball tournament I went to on the weekend. I am so out of shape, every muscle in my body is hurting. But it was great fun and cool to see some of my co-workers for the last time before I leave. I was also able to hear about Doug's accidentally purchasing doll house furniture on Ebay in the mistaken belief that he was buying real furniture and only finding out the truth after he had paid for it. That alone would have made the day worthwhile.
